Though Tracey Richter’s trial is ancient history, it’s important for every American interested in justice to know why she’s in jail. The Tracey Richter story really centers on the power of the prosecutor and the havoc one corrupt public servant can sow when that power is abused. What Tracey Richter suffered, a life term for a crime she didn’t commit, is an example of a flaw in our justice system – one that jeopardizes the right of every American to a fair trial. It’s not too radical to assert that what happened to Tracey Richter could happen to any one of us.
